Well... Adalynn will be 32 weeks tonight at midnight. That is just plain hard to believe... Let's see, we've known we are pregnant for 16 weeks now! It really has gone by so fast and yet it seems like we've always known about Adalynn. Now I can't even imagine life without her...and I haven't even seen her face!
Our doctor came in bright and early this morning...and thankfully Tom was still here. Tom has a steel trap when it comes to listening to things... I forget every other word, it seems, but Tom can take it all in and actually understand it all! In fact, that's what he usually does... translates everything to English for me!
The doctor said that because now I'm at 32 weeks, they will deliver Adalynn if 1 of 3 things happen: 1. I get an infection or fever; 2. I go into labor; or 3. I start bleeding. If one of those happen, they will take Adalynn via C-section right away. Otherwise, they will wait two more weeks and then schedule a C-section (we are having a C-section because she is breech). He said that if they waited beyond 34 weeks, there is more of a risk of her getting an infection than if they went ahead a took her. In other words, without any amniotic fluid, momma can only really protect her up to that point.
It felt so good to talk to him. I think we had a good idea what would happen, but it was nice to have a concrete time frame. And to think that we will get to meet Adalynn in 2 weeks or so (or less)! Wow... is this really happening?! I do hope that she continues to incubate for another couple of weeks. Again, I would much rather her be in the "MICU" instead of the NICU!
Before the doctor left, he started talking with Crist and Ty and he warned/teased them that their lives were getting ready to change dramatically! (He has four boys and then a girl) He said that we'll be at the store and the boys will ask for something and Mom and Dad will say no. And then when Adalynn asks for something we'll say, "Sure! How many do you want?" Crist and Ty just sat there smiling...
The rest of today was pretty uneventful...until some friends from home/church visited! Laurie and Bill Nystrom stopped by, and of course had some more treats for us. One of the gifts was a super cute musical pillow that played "Jesus Loves Me." I put it up to my belly and Adalynn just hopped! It was good to see them and how nice that they would take time out of their busy schedule for ME!! (Thank you friends!)
You know... looking back, this whole journey has been so amazing... we are completely covered in prayer by so many (I can't even imagine that). We are completely taken care of here in Little Rock as well as at home! To think that at the very beginning I was upset that we were "inconvenienced" by this pregnancy... Now I KNOW that the Lord knew what He was doing by placing Adalynn in the midst of all this love. Thank you, Body of Christ!
"...God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." (1 Corin. 12: 24b-27)
